Internationally acclaimed portraitist displays artwork at the Portugal Pavilion
From 23-27 February, the Portugal Pavilion invites Expo visitors to discover the work of Portuguese portraitist Helena Pedro Nunes – a unique fusion of Pop Art and Realism.
The temporary exhibition Portugal in the World opened today on the ground floor of the Portuguese Pavilion and, according to the artist, offers “a glimpse into a natural and sustainable future”, in line with the main theme of Expo 2020 Dubai “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
Influenced by an urban and sophisticated matrix, Helena’s work is characterized by an intense expressiveness and iconographic symbolism. She is widely regarded as one of the best avant-garde portraitists and has progressively asserted herself in the national and international artistic scene.
Her portfolio includes well-known celebrities, such as Madonna, Bon Jovi, Angelina Jolie, Giselle Bündchen, Keira Knightley, among many others.
