The aerospace sector and investment opportunities in the Portuguese municipalities of Ponte de Sor, Beja, Évora and Sines are the focus of the institutional mission that the Alentejo will ‘bring’ to Dubai, starting Monday.

The mission will take place at the Dubai Air Show and Expo 2020 Dubai, between Monday and Wednesday. Ponte de Sor City Council is leading the visit, along with the international promotion of the aerospace sector of the “Invest in Alentejo” program, an initiative co-financed by the Alentejo Regional Development Agency (ADRAL).

On Monday, “the 15th will be exclusively dedicated to the Dubai Air Show, with meetings already scheduled with several multinationals in the sector,” revealed the municipality of Alentejo, in a statement sent to Lusa news agency.
The goal is “promote investment opportunities and the relocation of production units to the Alentejo region”, they added.

The focus shifts the following day to Expo Dubai 2020, with the seminar “Portugal Aviation, Energy and Digital Seminar Program”, at the Portugal Pavilion. It is “an opportunity” to “present live, at the exhibition, the investment attraction strategy of the ‘Invest in Alentejo’ aeronautics initiative”, said the municipality.

On Wednesday, the program includes “isolated meetings” with companies outside the fairs and exhibitions of companies headquartered in the Sharhaj Innovation Park and in Dubai South.

Aeronautics, ports and logistics, tourism and agribusiness are the four axes that Alentejo is promoting internationally, through the “Invest in Alentejo” program. Co-financed by community funds, the program aims to increase the international recognition of strategic sectors in the Alentejo, promote the regional potential on an international scale, through its infrastructure, and strengthen existing economic sectors abroad. The project’s chief goal is to promote the main equipment and resources associated with the region, such as the Port of Sines, Alqueva, Beja Airport, Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone (ZILS), aeronautical industry parks in Évora, Beja and Ponte de Sor and the Alentejo Science and Technology Park (PACT), among others.
