Portuguese Space Agency primary purpose is to promote and strengthen Space in Portugal, its ecosystem and value chain, for the benefit of society and economy in the country and worldwide. Portugal Space acts as a business and development unit for universities, research entities and companies and is also the national representative for Portugal to the European Commission for matters related to Space. The Atlantic International Research Centre is an international collaborative framework to address global challenges and local priorities in the Atlantic Ocean. The ESA_LAB @Azores has more than 20 ongoing projects in diverse areas such as marine litter detection from space (LABPLAS, HYPERSPECTRAL), EO based fisheries and aquaculture services (NEXTOCEAN), support systems for agriculture management (SAP), space enabled sustainable port services (PORT XXI), program for Copernicus market uptake (FPA-CUP), satellite constellation development studies (ATON, AEROS, MAGAL), among others. MobFood promotes new strategies to increase the competitiveness of the Portuguese food industry through the development of new products, services, processes, and technologies across the entire value chain. The participation of all the relevant stakeholders makes MobFood a mobilizing project for the Portuguese agri-food sector. Know more.

04:00 p.m. to 04:40 p.m. - ChestWine | Bragança Polytechnic
ChestWine Technology aims to enhance chestnut flowers as a source of natural preservatives for wines use. This project consists in the development of a natural preservative, extracted from the male chestnut flowers - Castanea sativa Mill- after the pollination period, thus avoiding the addition of artificial preservatives such as sulphites. This is a scientific project that aims the development of tools for monitoring and protection of biodiversity in Marine Protected Areas along the Portuguese coast, built along 3 main topics: management support, scientific innovation, and knowledge transfer. Know more.

11:45 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. - ValorMar | Porto University/Sonae
The ValorMar project developed 4 innovative technological solutions enhancing the valorisation and efficient use of marine resources through the integration of value chains, in a logic of circular economy, articulating: aquaculture, food industry, bio medics, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. 03:15 p.m. to 03:55 p.m. - CBmeter | Leiria Polytechnic
The CBmeter project aims to develop a prototype of a new medical device for the early diagnosis of metabolic diseases through the detection of carotid body dysfunction. The overactivity of these receptors seems to be one of the first events in the cascade that culminates in hypertension and obesity. This project consists of the development of portable medical equipment, easy to use, to diagnose the function of carotid bodies. Know more.

04:00 p.m. to 04:40 p.m. - Blue Stain | CESPU
CESPU develops a simple cancer diagnostic test for point of care using cytology as a source of biological samples. The simple and fast staining allows the step of processing and staining samples to be carried directly by the doctor and eliminates the need for processing by a specialized lab. Overall, this provides a fully scalable and logistics-free turn-key solution for point-of-care cancer screening on a population scale. Know more.
